Grade 3 Module 3 contains:
A knowledge of Compound Time is the
single biggest new requirement for passing a Grade 3
Music Theory examination. In fact, Sheila considers it
so important she starts this video by testing your
knowledge of the previous module. There is a special
test paper to download and Sheila walks you through the
answers at the end of the programme.
Having set you that test (during which you pause the
video) Sheila proceeds to tell you all about the
Anacrusis. With both musical and poetic examples, she
clearly explains this new concept. After that she tells
you about Demisemiquavers or 32nd notes. Her customary
humour takes the panic out of these short note intervals
and Sheila explains this does not always mean fast
music!
Next, you learn about musical phrases after which Sheila
tells you about the new types of 4 bar (4 measure)
rhythms you will be expected to complete. Finally, some
further work on intervals completes this important
module. Throughout all this, Sheila guides you through
the subjects with her customary humour and ease.
As always, there is a downloadable PDF file to go with
this video. Sheila gives the download address of this
and the Module FAQ at the end of the programme.
Don't forget, as a registered customer, you can email
Sheila to ask any questions you may have. Sheila
will answer you and add the answer to the FAQ for
everyone's benefit.
